INFORMATION CONCERNING OUR CHURCHES
The town Church: (Jinja Church of Christ)
This is one of the two churches that we so far have in the town of Busoga. We dream that some day we will be able to begin Churches in the other towns as well.
This Town Church is known as the "Jinja Church of Christ" meets every Sunday from
9:00am to 10:00am for Bible Study and from 10am to 12:00noon for Worship.
We meet throughout the week in homes of our Christians and in small groups that meet at gathering centers in many places in and around town. These small meeting are the one's we call "cell groups". In these cell groups, we have cell's servants that are encouraged to lead as servants in these groups. Above and for this servant hood sake, below them are the section servants. We are still growing in this
trend
We now have local leaders in the Jinja Church who meet often every
Tuesday to pray and discuss matters concerning the Church. The leaders look forward to a time when they will pioneer the selection of qualified elders in this Church who will take over the leadership of this Church from the present leadership.
This is the list of our leaders:
1. Kasuule David
2. Abraham Mulongo
3. Nyanga Grace Aggrey
4. Richard Bazonoona
5. Godfrey Ssebunya
6.

WHAT IS THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST IN BUSOGA, UGANDA?
The Church of Christ is growing in Busoga, Uganda! We are growing in numbers, in strength, and in faith. There are many exciting things starting to happen within this movement in Busoga and this will continue into the future. But what is the Church of Christ?
The "Church of Christ" as we know it today started in America in the early 1800's when some Christians wanted to restore unity among all Christians based on a return to the teachings of the Bible and the example of early Christianity. Those who started the Church of Christ in America saw that there was so much confusion and corruption and disunity in Christianity, and that there need to be a revival or a restoration. They believed that many of the problems came from the sin of Church leaders and from people losing touch with the Bible and blindly following human traditions. These people left other protestant groups and came together with the intention of standing only on Jesus and the Bible rather than on human traditions. Even the name "Church of Christ" was chosen because it is found in the Bible (see Romans 16:16). Some of the first leaders in the Church of Christ in America were Alexander Campbell and Barton W. Stone. They tried to help people go back to a simple belief and faith in Jesus Christ, and they tried to start Churches that had Jesus Christ as their only foundation. In this way, they hoped to help create unity between all Christians.
The Church of Christ has problems just like every Church. There has been fighting and there have been divisions in our history, also. But the members of the Church of Christ still believe that the attempt to always go back to the foundation of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible is both possible and very important. It is this idea that keeps the Church of Christ going, and in the last century the Church of Christ has grown very much and has spread to many countries around the world. Now there are almost 20,000 Churches of Christ and millions of members in the world. In East Africa, the Church of Christ is especially strong in Kenya where there are hundreds of Churches and thousands of members.
The Church of Christ started in Uganda in the West in the late 1960's when some missionaries came from America. But soon Amin chased them and the Church of Christ continued without missionaries but with some help from the World Bible School correspondence program. In the 1990's, missionaries started coming back again to many areas of Uganda. All of them came hoping to help people make covenant with Jesus Christ, have a simple faith in Him, and start Churches built on the one foundation of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. In the 1990's, the first Church of Christ missionaries came to Busoga where the number of Churches and Christians is growing everyday.
Many Christians and Churches claim to follow Jesus and the Bible, and we do not want to argue with them over small things. We respect and honor anyone in any group that puts their trust in Jesus and tries to live out a faithful and pure life in Him. But we also believe that God has something special to do through the Churches of Christ.
We have now about 67 Churches in the Villages of Busoga. Here is a list of some
